
After a a penalty shootout win at home in St Paul and a 2-4 loss on the road at Seattle’s Lumen Field, Minnesota United hosted the Seattle Sounders at Allianz Field in a winner take all game three of the 2025 Audi MLS Cup Playoffs. The final match of the series turned out to be an instant classic with MNUFC going down 0-2 within the first ten minutes behind Sounders goals from Rusnák and Musovski. Minnesota was able to pull back three unanswered goals from Pereyra, Diaz, and Markanich (despite a red card from Joseph Rosales) before Seattle’s Morris equalized in 88th minute sending the match to a penalty shootout. Loons GK Dayne St Clair scored the final goal a thrilling 6-7 (SIX SEVEN) shootout win that included a dislocated finger, a little bit of taunting, and a missed penalty all from Sounders GK Andrew Thomas.
