Loons kickoff second half of season with Pride Night match against San Diego

After a few weeks off from play, Minnesota United kicks off the second half of their 2025 campaign with a Pride Night showdown against San Diego FC. The Loons head into tonight’s match with a 2-1-2 (W-L-D) record across their last five matches in MLS and are 3-0-2 in their last five across all competitions. Coming off picking up their first ever set of points and win in Seattle last time out, MNUFC is soaring to start the final 17 matches. Minnesota will be missing some key players with starting goalkeeper Dayne St. Clair and top scorer Tani Oluwaseyi out for International Duty with the Canadian Men’s National Team, as part of 10 Loons who were called up for International Duty.
“It’s tricky. It’s a tricky situation for us now, given that it’s international break, then it’s Gold Cup and we obviously play a few decisive games in that moment,” said Eric Ramsey. “But then, I’ve said to the group at the end, that we have to make sure that when the group comes back together this time, we have managed to keep our place toward the top [of the Western Conference] and we’ve remained competitive.
Just like Minnesota United, San Diego FC are coming off a two week break and sit near the top of the Western Conference. In their first season SDFC have shown themselves to be one of the top teams in the league. At 3-1-1 in their last five and also coming off a win San Diego looks to spoil the Pride Party in Minnesota. Though they face a significant challenge, missing six players due to lower body injuries and two to international duty, pulling two of their top three scorers out of action for the evening.
News & Notes
Tonight is Minnesota United’s 2025 Pride Night match and the club will wear Pride themed warmups as they have each season on Pride Night.
Tonight’s March to the Match leaves Black Hart Bar at 6:15pm and the Wonderwall will have a pride themed Tifo, that from what I’ve been told everyone will want to see.
Carlos Harvey signed a three year contract extension with a club option for 2029, that keeps him a Loon through at least 2028.
While the international break has finished the Concacaf Gold Cup is coming up in short order. The Loons will be missing four players for an extended period while they try and bring the Gold Cup home to their home countries. The 2025 Gold Cup starts tonight and will finish on 06-July with the final in Houston, TX.
