MNUFC2 has not had the best start to their 2026 season to say the least. Coming into the campaign with high hopes and expectations after last years playoff run, things initial appeared well. But following the win in Austin, TX that feeling quickly dissipated with two consecutive losses in the midst of their six game road swing to start the 2026 season.

Opening up the season in Austin it was one man who secured the Twoons their season opening victory. That was Marcus Caldeira who snagged himself a first half hat trick with goals in the 3rd minute, 21st, and a penalty in the 39th. Jorge Alastuey scored twice for Austin late in the match, his goals being bisected by a Twoons goal from Darius Randell that gave Minnesota a season opening 4–2 win.

The next week in St. Louis things could not have gone more disastrously for MNUFC2, as they fell 3–0 to St. Louis City 2. City scored early with Palmer Ault getting his first of three points on the evening with an eleventh minute goal. From there it was all St. Louis with Mykhi Joyner snapping up a brace with both assists coming from Ault. Following Joyner's second goal, City held out for the next 35 minutes to hand MNUFC2 their first loss of 2026.
