English Football Roundup: The Pilgrims progress to the playoffs

Plymouth Argyle have sealed a playoff spot for a WSL2 berth. Elsewhere, relegation threatens a handful of teams.

Lewes beat Bournemouth 2-0, sealing a promotion playoff for the Southern Prem's Plymouth Argyle to get into WSL2. Their expected opponent is Northern Prem's Wolverhampton Wanderers.

In the drop zone, Blackburn lost 3-0 to Wythenshawe, deepening their crisis at the foot of the WNL D1 N. Durham beat Chester-le-Street 3-0, who turned around and beat Doncaster Rovers Belles 1-0. Both losing sides are still in relegation trouble, as is York City (7-0 losers to Wythenshawe) in the same division, although only two will go down.

Cheadle Town Stingers had a mixed week, beating mid-table Chorley 2-0 but falling to first-placed Huddersfield Town 4-0, with 9 women on the pitch.

The defeat leaves the Terriers at the top, with a game in hand. With two games left of the season, they have a chance to secure the title away at York City tomorrow, and with it a place in the Northern Premier. A draw or a York win would relegate Doncaster.

Tomorrow also sees the return of the pros, with a relegation six-pointer for Ipswich Town and Sheffield United in WSL2.
