Minnesota United FC needed a win on Wednesday night against FC Dallas. A low key and somewhat boring first half started the match. But the final half-hour of football was filled with action, including three total goals scored. But for MNUFC they only scored one of those three, falling to FC Dallas 2–1 thanks to an 84th minute Toros winner.
Coming into Wednesday night on just three days of rest Cameron Knowles had faith in his previous starting eleven. Knowles made just a single change bringing Nectarios Triantis into the eleven over Owen Gene, who was available from the bench.

First half football could be summed up in one word, snoozer. Much of the match was contained between the middle third and Minnesota defensive third, with only the occasional foray out of those zones. Each side did manage four shots in the half, but only one of those for each side went on target. Dallas easily had the best chance of the half to score, coming late in the 44th minute. Logan Farrington's shot from inside the box forced Minnesota United goalkeeper Drake Callender to make a diving save to preserve the nil-nil scoreline.
Neither of the two sides made a change to start the second half, though the Loons did come out with more gusto. Even with the good start to the half, which included a few shots for Minnesota it was the Loons who gave up the first goal of the night. Joaquín Valiente received a long through ball and dribbled into the box. After being set upon by a few defenders Valiente quickly sent a back pass to Kaick, who finished the play off from the penalty spot.

Just past the 70th minute, MNUFC finally hit the back of the net thanks to a goal from Kelvin Yeboah. His shot came on a second chance opportunity after he cracked the post on the first shot following a ball played in by Kyle Duncan.

A level score didn't last long as 10 minutes after Yeboah's goal, Dallas found the back of the net once again. Samuel Sarver sent a cross to Santiago Moreno, who got free space and charges into a basically open 18 yard box and finishes from close range in the box and ripped a shot from close range to put the visitors up.
Now with nine losses and just seven wins as MLS enters the final third of the season, the Loons playoff hopes are becoming thinner. MNUFC now heads to Missouri to face St. Louis City on Saturday night.
