KC Current II, Milwaukee Torrent, Salvo, Ambassadors and FC Dayton all lead their divisions.

Tuesday:

Ambassadors Cleveland 1 vs 1 Beadling Soccer Club

After a scoreless first half and a point blank stop by the Beadling keeper in the 50th minute, the visitors threaded an impressive sequence of passes from their own half, down the gut of the Ambassadors’ defense before Carolina Lucci rounded the keeper and a despairing last defender on the line to put the first goal home in the 53rd minute. Ambassadors had a chance the level the score after the Beadling goalkeeper upended a Cleveland player in the penalty area, fumbling for the rebound off a shot. The PK was then slid calmly into the left hand side of the goal in the 56th minute by Taylor Huff. Ambassadors had the majority of possession after that point but the Beadling defense held out.

Wednesday:

Central Illinois United 3 vs 2 Quad Cities Rush

No match details other than the score are available at this time.

Thursday:

Lady Victory FC 2 vs 2 Dayton Dutch Lions FC

The Dutch Lions went ahead after end to end action was book-ended by an attack down the right, finished off by Carly Groh in the 2nd minute. The match continued to be end to end, but pressure by the home team finally paid off in the 34th minute as the ball was incepted on the right of midfield and played forward for Georgia Place to chip the on-rushing goalkeeper.

Victory went ahead in the 48th minute after an attacker drove into the box from the right wing and passed the ball across the 6 yard box to be tapped home by Maya Lacognato. There followed a period of 10 minutes where the home side were in the ascendency but could not breach the stubborn DDL defense again. In the 70th minute, Dayton Dutch Lions pulled level through Patricia Lamanna, finishing off a swift counter down the left wing. Both teams had good chances in the remaining 20 minutes but neither could break the tie.

Friday:

Midwest Select SA Muskrats 0 vs 2 FC Milwaukee Torrent

Torrent took the lead in the 29th minute when a right wing corner was headed clear, but only to Lola Wojcik who blasted it home from about 20 yards out, into the bottom left corner of the goal through traffic. In the 39th minute, a Torrent counterattack down the right was centered for Tyler Wilson to belt a second goal from 25 yards out.

Both sides had chances in the second half, with the clearest falling to Torrent’s Elsi Twombly on a PK — but Twombly hit the left post and had her rebound disallowed.

Mankato United SC 2 vs 0 Manitou FC

Jenny Vetter opened the scoring for the home team in the 21st minute, spinning inside the 6 yard box before finishing off broken play following a corner kick.

The game was put beyond doubt in the 75th minute by Vetter, who once more showed her speed on a counter attack down the left, picking up the Kenna Buisman pass before dribbling clear of the defense and blasting the ball into the inside side-netting of the right post. Searching for her hat trick, Vetter hit the point of left post and crossbar in the 79th minute, but it rattled the woodwork and went out. Manitou only mustered one shot on goal during the entire match.

Salvo SC 3 vs 1 Minnesota Thunder

Thunder were just wide in the 15th minute, for the first good chance by either side. Salvo’s best chance came in the 37th minute, when a header across goal hit the post and the rebound was smothered by the keeper. The Thunder keeper also made a point blank stop in the 41st minute, to stop a counter attack goal.

It took until the 62nd minute for Salvo to take the lead, and even that was a touch fortuitous as a corner from Jessie Hunt from the right was drifted into the back post and Meredith Haakenson’s header slipped through the goalkeeper’s hands into the net. The lead was doubled in the 73rd minute after Sophia Boman popped the ball up to the penalty spot and Molly Fiedler headed it back across the keeper for the goal. Boman herself got on the scoresheet in the 82nd minute, finishing from the edge of the box after she was set up by Laney Murdzek. Thunder spoiled the clean sheet in the 90th minute through Paige Peltier but it was Salvo who claimed the lead in the North.

Saturday:

Iowa Raptors FC 0 vs 3 Fire & Ice SC

Goals by Mercedes Schroer, Mackenzie Litzsinger and Kayley Judy sealed the win for Fire & Ice on the road.

Bavarian United 2 vs 0 Chicago KICS

The home side went ahead in the 18th minute when a right wing corner was scrambled in by Rachel Dallet. What was a closely contested game was finally settled when Bavarians broke down the left in the 78th minute and the pass across the six yard box was finished off by Brandi Thomsen.

Kansas City Current II 3* vs 0 Central Illinois United

* CIU forfeited the game. In the process probably avoiding a 10 goal goal difference swing.

Century United 0 vs 3 Ambassadors Cleveland

No match details are available at the time of publication.

Katie Cox put the visitors in the lead near the end of the first half but Beadling stole a point with a 90th minute equalizer from Breana Valentovish.

Sunday:

Quad Cities Rush 1 vs 6 Fire & Ice SC

FC Milwaukee Torrent 2 vs 0 Chicago KICS

Lainey Higgins and Elsi Twombly were the difference makers in a game where KICS nonetheless applied some pressure.

Bavarian United 5 vs 0 Midwest Select SA Muskrats

Rachel Dallet opened the scoring with a shot placed precisely into the top right hand corner after neat interchange in the box. Hers was the only goal in the first half. Myah Shrokosch tapped in number 2 after work down the right. The third goal was a volley into the side netting from just outside the penalty arc, by Brandi Thomsen. Maggie Starker took advantage of a goal kick which was returned back to her via some advantageous defending to make it four and the final goal was scored when Hailey Block took the chance and dribbled through the defense before slotting the ball home.

Salvo SC 5 vs 0 Dakota Fusion FC

Lauren Donovan headed home a corner from Emily Heslin in the 10th minute to open the scoring and the home side slowly sucked the life out of Fusion. It was 2–0 in the 29th minute after Sofia Boman set up Lexi Huber. Maddie Ishaug pounced on a clearance from Fusion in the 34th minute to make it 3–0.

Brooklyn Bordson set up Cam Rintoul for a rocket into the top right corner with 75 minutes on the clock to make the score 4–0 and the final goal came courtesy of a Fusion own goal after an attempt by Bordson.

Joy Athletic Club 1 vs 3 MapleBrook Fury

Joy went ahead after Megan Hansen drove past her defender on the right before reversing the ball back past the defender and the keeper into the bottom left hand corner in the 29th minute. In the next minute, the Joy keeper made a point blank stop. MapleBrook’s response came just before half time, as Jasmine Gates floated a free kick from just outside the box, 15 yards out on the left wing, over the Joy goalkeeper and into the net. Events were to turn late. In the 83rd minute, MapleBrook went ahead, when a Joy attack was stymied and the counter attack down the right saw a perfectly placed cross field pass for Paige Goaley to slide the ball home. A similar attack saw the fourth goal in the 87th minute, Marie Sennes tapping home.

Minnesota Thunder 2 vs 0 Manitou FC

Thunder took the lead in the 23rd minute after an attacker drove inside from the right and powered a shot past the keeper from just inside the area. Thunder also hit the post in the 81st minute. A header from a left wing cross in the 85th minute finally added some gloss to the score. A late, long distance shot from Manitou was denied by the crossbar.

Century United 1 vs 2 Columbus Eagles FC

Jordyn Minda scored for Century, but the Eagles took the three points from the road after a double from Alicia Donley.

Cleveland Ambassadors 5 vs 1 Beadling Soccer Club

Jessica Sheldon put on a show, dishing out four assists as the table toppers ran over Beadling. Mackinley Mendenhall, Camryn Hartman, Morgan Pentz, Chloe Fadenholz and an unassisted Ashley Townsend all scored.

Lady Victory FC 1 vs 0 FC Dayton

Nicoletta Anuci netted the winner to hand FC Dayton their first ever loss at WPSL level, with their first goal conceded.
