First reported earlier this morning by Andy Greder of the St. Paul Pioneer Press and later confirmed by the club, Devin Padelford is heading out on loan. For the 23 year old defender this is his second loan in as many years, last year joining St. Louis City on loan for the back end of the season. Last year in St. Louis he made 10 appearances for STL earning much needed minutes in MLS.

This season the Minnesotan has made 20 appearances, including 8 starts, for the Loons across all competitions. Padelford's last appearance came at San Jose and his last start was in Leagues Cup against Atlante.

“Devin’s loan with Red Bull New York provides him with an excellent opportunity to continue his development and gain valuable playing time in a high-level environment,” said MNUFC Interim Sporting Director Hank Stebbins. “We wish Devin the best of luck during his time in New York.”

Padelford is loaned to RBNY through end of 2026 MLS season, with the Loons holding no right to recall. There is also no right for New York Red Bulls to buy Padelford at the end of the loan. In exchange MNUFC received the Discovery Priority for defender Cherrion Valerius, who was subsequently loaned in to MNUFC.
