The battle to win the North and Great Lakes conferences continues.
Wednesday:
Panathinaikos Chicago 1 vs 4 FC Columbus
Damani Camara continued his red hot form with goals in the 2nd and 37th minutes, for a league-leading 15 goals. Edgar Guzman’s deftly executed free kick for PAO in the 73rd minute was sandwiched by two goals from Michael Chilton in the 68th and 75 minutes which closed the door on the home team.
La Crosse Aris FC 2 vs 1 Sioux Falls Thunder FC
With a late goal and despite a late sending off, Aris claim their second win of the season. After a Diego Arenal goal in the 16th minute was canceled out by a Thunder goal in the 48th minute from Trace Dobson , the winner came from Callum Smith in the 85th minute.
Dakota Fusion FC 3 vs 1 Duluth FC
Tre Bonaparte opened the scoring for Fusion in the 16th minute as he got on the end of a long diagonal to the left wing and slotted it under the keeper for an own goal to be ruled. The BlueGreens pinned Fusion within their own half for a big chunk of the twenty minutes afterward, despite a Fusion corner on the counter. It was 2–0 after a lax back pass by Jake Starling was intercepted by Nazomu Kamei. Kamei’s shot was blocked by Michael Garrihy in the Duluth goal, only to carom to Bonaparte for his seventh goal of the season. Starling made up for his defensive lapse, heading in for Duluth FC from a left wing corner with the last kick of the half.
Duluth again had the majority of possession, and a few chances, but it was Fusion who secured the next goal and the win, courtesy of Shoki Yoshida in the 69th minute.
Thursday:
Muskegon Risers 4 vs 2 Carpathia FC
After a goal-less first half, Eron Sylejmani put the Risers ahead in the 48th minute. Joseph Tinnion tied it up in the 54th minute and Carpathia took the lead four minutes later through Alex Serwatka. Giuseppe Barone put the Risers level in the 79th minute and then back on top from the spot five minutes afterwards. The game was concluded by a 90th minute goal from Adetunji Ifaturoti for the Risers, who stay undefeated ahead of the first of two matches against Columbus on Saturday.
Saturday:
FC Columbus 4 vs 4 Muskegon Risers
Columbus took a third minute lead after a right wing counter attack ended with Michael Chilton blasting the ball past the keeper and into the roof of the net. Muskegon gathered the ball for the restart and Giuseppe Barone lobbed the Columbus goalkeeper from the half way line for the equalizer. Adam Hanson dribbled into the area and placed the ball into the corner for the go-ahead goal for the Risers in the 8th minute. Another Riser attack down the left was ended abruptly in the penalty area for a PK, dispatched by
Vitalis Takawira Jr for a 3–1 lead in the 11th minute. Columbus got one back in the 39th minute, with a bullet header from Eli Dulle off a right wing corner.
FC Columbus were reduced to ten men in the 70th minute after league-leading goal scorer Damani Camara was dismissed for serious foul play. Muskegon went ahead 4–2 through Anthonius Berkeley just three minutes later but Columbus staged a late rally through two more goals from Michael Chilton — to claim his hat trick and a point for the home team.
Panathinaikos Chicago 1 vs 3 FC Milwaukee Torrent
Torrent took the lead in the 14th minute through Alex Filian but PAO equalized through Jimmy Matthew in the 22nd minute and it was tied at half time.
James Weber prized open the sluice for Torrent in the 66th minute. Filian completed the victory in the 70th minute.
