'Mingos extend unbeaten run to seven

Forward Madison FC have been on a tear this year and are on another long unbeaten run. But their quest for USL Shield may be over.

Forward Madison's season in 2026 has been one of if not the best season for any professional soccer club in the Upper Midwest. Well save for maybe Union Omaha, who currently sit 1st in USL League One. Madison on the other hand are in third place at 14-6-5 (48 points) and seven points back from the Owls as the season winds to a close. Madison's USL1 Shield hopes may be over with seven matches to go, unless the Flamingos can pull off a massive run to end the season, plus have a few other things go their way.

Last Week:

Foward Madison 1–1 Sarasota Paradise

Just a single match last week saw the 'Mingos host Sarasota Paradise, a club they had beaten in their only meeting of the season so far. Unlike the previous match, Sarasota got out to the better start with Brendan Krueger snapping a 39th minute goal, just ahead of the halftime break. Madison worked back quickly in the second half with Claudel N’goubou scoring his third goal of the season in the 54th minute. Even with their 17 total shots, the 'Mingos couldn't hit the back of goal again.

Up Next:

Foward Madison at Chattanooga Red Wolves - Wednesday at 6pm

This week the Flamingos are back to a two match week, opening up with a midweek away match against the Red Wolves in East Tennessee. Chattanooga sit sixth in the League One table and are hanging on near the bottom of the playoff race. A win for the Red Wolves would be huge and give them some space between the 7th and 8th place clubs. But for Madison they have an all time record of 9-7-5 (W-D-L) against the Red Wolves, but have not won in Chattanooga since late 2024.

Foward Madison vs AV Alta - Saturday at 6pm

After playing in Eastern Tennessee the club returns home for a Saturday night matchup with Californian side AV Alta. AVA are currently in 10th place in the league and scratching at the bottom playoff spots with less than 10 matches remaining. In two seasons and three meetings, the 'Mingos have never managed to beat AV Alta, which includes a 2–0 loss that Madison took this season in early May.
