Mingo Monday: One week, two matches, and four points

Madison's two matches went very well for the 'Mingos last week and manager Matt Glaeser won Coach of the Month

Forward Madison has been on a tear over the summer with only one loss suffered since mid-June. Manager Matt Glaeser was awarded the July USL1 Coach of the Month award for his performance leading the 'Mingos to a nine match win streak between June and July. But even after their first loss in over six weeks, Madison hasn't stopped and continued pulling points. In two matches last week the club pulled out four points, one from a home draw and three from an away win.

Forward Madison 1 – 1 Greenville Triumph

Pulling a late goal in the first half, Forward Madison's 44th minute goal was their only one of the match, but enough to force a draw. Greenville's Muba Nour, the former Minnesotan who spent time with MNUFC2, scored the Triumph's lone goal in the 27th minute. Madison answered back with a goal coming from Hakim Karamoko just before half time, to set the score that the match ended with.

Portland Hearts of Pine 1 – 2 Forward Madison

Coming off a draw Madison went on the road looking for and expecting a win, which they did get. Hakim Karamoko scored in the 21st minute before missing a penalty, that could have put them up 2–0, in the 28th minute. Ryan Carmichael notched Madison's second goal just twelve minutes into the second half, giving Madison a two-nil lead. Unfortunately for Madison the shutout was broken by Diego Gonzalez in the 86th minute, just five minutes after Portland was shown a red card.

Coming up this week

Forward Madison hosts Charlotte Independence on Saturday night at Breese Stevens Field. Madison enters the match in third place on a two match unbeaten run and only one loss in their last twelve matches. On the other side of the pitch, Charl0tte sits in second place with 42 points and four wins in their last five matches.
