Loons on Loan: Early April Update

It's once again time to look at the Loons on Loan in the US and around the world to see how they are doing.

The international break has finished, the clubs have returned to the pitch, and it's now time for our early April update on the Loons currently out on loan. During the writing of this there we 10 Loons out with other clubs, but as of publication day that dropped to nine with Kayne Rizvanovich being recalled from Brooklyn FC. But before we get there, we'll go over the Loons around the world.

Worldwide Loons

Hoyeon Jung (Suwon Samsung Bluewings, K League 2): Jung has had a pretty good season in Korea to this point. He's made five appearances and the Bluewings sit second in the K League 2. Over the last three matches, Jung played full 90 in 3–0 win at Gimhae FC 2008, then came on as a halftime sub in 1–0 win at Yongin FC, where he was extremely accurate in passing. This past weekend he came on as sub and played 14 mins in nil-nil draw against Cheongju FC.

Wessel Speel (Shelbourne FC, League of Ireland): Over in Ireland, Wessel Speel has continued to show his muscle. In the last four matches he has two clean sheets with a combined 8 saves between two two matches. This past weekend Shelbourne played two matches, losing both 3–2 with Speel starting both matches.

Matúš Kmeť (FC DAC 1904, Niké liga): In Slovakia the season is wrapping up and if Matúš Kmeť is not purchased by DAC he could be headed back here after the World Cup. Across the previous two matches, Kmeť played a total of 153 minutes. He went the full 90 and scored DAC's only goal in their 3–1 loss at MŠK Žilina, the following week he started and played 63 minutes in a 3–0 loss. With seven matches remaining, DAC currently sit 3rd in the Niké Liga's Championship Group.

Momoh Kamara (IF Elfsborg, Allsvenskan): The newest Loon to head out on Loan is midfielder Momoh Kamara. Kamara heads to the Swedish side for the 2026 campaign with IF Elfsborg holding an option to buy following the season. Di Gule opened their season on Monday with a 2-0 win at IFK Göteburg. Kamara was not on the roster for that match.

Loons in the USL

Babacar Niang (Louisville City, USLC): Now on to the USL starting with Babacar Niang who is current only loan at Louisville City. Niang has come on as a sub in three of the past four matches, starting with playing 21 minutes in 4–2 win vs Rhode Island FC. He also came on as sub in 1–0 win at Brooklyn FC, playing just 9 minutes. This past weekend against Charleston Battery, Niang came on in the 63rd minute in LouCity's 2–0 loss. During the Open Cup he started, played the full 90, and scored match winner in 2–0 win at Lexington SC.

Curt Calov (San Antonio FC, USLC): In the last four matches Calov has started twice and come on as a sub twice, playing a total of 202 minutes. Calov played nine minutes in a 1–0 win over New Mexico United, played 52 minutes in the Open Cup loss to FC Tulsa. His two starts came against Lexington SC (2–0 win) and a nil-nil draw with Monterrey Bay FC.

Kayne Rizvanovich (Brooklyn FC, USLC): Rizvanovich's last and as of this time final appearance for Brooklyn was his start in a in 2–1 loss to Hartford. He was not rostered for the following three matches and has since been recalled back to Minnesota United.

"We want to have him back, there was always a right to recall that we we're building into the loan," manager Cameron Knowles said to the media on Monday. "He had some good games there and now he's back in our environment were we can keep a close eye on him here."

Britton Fischer (Hartford Athletic, USLC): Fischer played the full 90 and had a solid defensive match in Hartford's 2–1 win at Brooklyn and 2–2 draw with Indy Eleven. He also played the full 90 minutes in a 2–0 loss to RIFC and nil-nil draw with Miami FC.

Logan Dorsey (Rhode Island FC, USLC): Logan Dorsey had a good March in Rhode Island. First coming on as sub in 4–2 loss at LouCity andplaying 18 minutes. Following that match he started at striker, snapped a shot on target, and played 64 minutes in a 2–1 loss at Miami FC and did the same playing 19 minutes in 2–0 win vs Hartford. He was on the bench but did not appear for RIFC against Detroit City this past weekend.

Kage Romanshyn Jr. (Forward Madison, USL1): Since joining the 'Mingos, Romanshyn has had a good season. He played full 90 and had solid outing in Madison 2–0 USOC defeat at Flint City Bucks (USL2). Against FC Naples he played 18 minutes after coming on as a sub in Madison;s 1–0 win.
