W-League Report: Aurora wins 5th consecutive Heartland crown

One final week to go in the W League season and as we say every year, it went by in a flash and we're not ready for it to end.

Five seasons of USL W League play and five consecutive titles for Minnesota Aurora. It's almost becoming cliche at this point that once the season starts, Aurora is guaranteed a playoff spot. That's not for a lack of trying on the other clubs in the division, all of whom came out targeting Aurora from the outset of the season. Rather Aurora's crowds have helped their recruiting massively as players are playing in a legit professional environment, with Minnesota consistently outdrawing USL Super League clubs. While that did not change in 2026, going forward the season will only get tougher for Aurora. With Rally Madison drawing similar numbers, Edgewater Castle's success in bringing in top level players from the Chicagoland, the future is bright for the whole division.

Last week Rally Madison continued their late season rally, scoring four points in two matches and are now unbeaten in four. Sioux Falls loss to Aurora on Wednesday ended City's title hopes and will see them finish behind their rival for a second consecutive season. The Loons of Rochester FC continued their rough season getting hammered a combined 9–1 in two matches and pushing them further into wooden spoon territory. Rochester's second match of the week was only the second time this season that RKC Third Coast has scored multiple goals in a game.
