Two more Loons are on the move to USL Championship clubs to bring a total of two current MNUFC and two current MNUFC2 players getting their minutes in that league. Goalkeeper Kayne Rizvanovich (MNUFC) and forward Logan Dorsey (MNUFC2) are the newest players to be loaned out, joining Babacar Niang (Twos on loan to Louisville) and Curt Calov (loaned to San Antonio) in the American second division.
Kayne Rizvanovich heads out to the city that never sleeps to join Brooklyn FC's new men's side that kicks off for the first time this season. The women's side of Brooklyn FC are currently in the midst of their second season in the USL Super League. The 18 year old goalkeeper heads to New York's most populated borough after a single season with MNUFC2 and having signed a first team contract in January of this year. The 6'4" (193cm) keeper made 17 starts, won nine matches, and only allowed 20 goals in his lone season with the Twoons.
“From a goalkeeping perspective, this loan is an important step in Kayne’s development. The opportunity to play regularly with Brooklyn FC will allow him to experience the demands of first-team football and continue to test himself in a competitive environment,” said MNUFC’s Head of Goalkeeping Thomas Fawdry.
MNUFC2 forward Logan Dorsey also heads out east, but goes a bit north of NYC as he joins third year Championship side Rhode Island FC. Dorsey scored a total of 12 goals in 22 appearances for the Twoons last season, with two of those goals coming in the playoffs. Dorsey was the Twos lone goalscorer in their Western Conference Final loss to Colorado Rapids 2.
“Logan’s loan to Rhode Island presents an important opportunity for him to continue accelerating his development in a highly competitive environment,” said MNUFC Sporting Director Khaled El-Ahmad. “He has demonstrated strong work ethic, determination, and consistent performance throughout last season and into preseason this year."
Both loan agreements retain the Loons right to recall the players back to Minnesota should they chose to do so. Rhode Island FC opens their third season on 7 March at home against Loudoun United, while Brooklyn kicks off their first season in Brooklyn at Maimonides Park against Indy Eleven the following day.
