Salvo 2-1 Thunder

In the 22nd minute, Thunder turned the ball over in midfield, and it made its way to Elle Wildman, who dribbled along the penalty box boundary, in from the right wing, and then sent a ball screaming into the top far corner of the goal. Even though it didn't count, Thunder didn't really recover. Five minutes later, Davy Mokelke scrambled in a ball that had started out drifting aimlessly towards the corner flag. In the 32nd minute, Mokelke added a second, lifting the ball past an onrushing Reese Elzen. A 57th-minute penalty kick for Greta Chmura was a fitting contribution for a Thunder squad that fought hard in the second half but couldn't break the suffocating Salvo defense.

Salvo SC Head Coach Matthew Cross spoke to Northland Soccer Journal after the match.

I thought we did well in the first half but the game kinda tipped after the penalty we gave up. It wasn’t the most exciting Salvo v Thunder game I’ve seen.
