In early October St. Paul Washington Tech and St. Paul Johnson will meet in the fifth annual Saint Paul Cup at Allianz Field in St. Paul. Not only will the Eagles and Governors meet at Minnesota's premier soccer stadium, but this match will kick off Northland Soccer Journal's inaugural season of high school soccer coverage.
Our coverage will cover the back end of the regular season, conference tournaments, section tournaments, and state tournament. This all caps off with live match day coverage of the 2026 MSHSL State Soccer Championship Finals from US Bank Stadium in Minneapolis on 7 November, 2026.
“Being invited to compete in the Saint Paul Cup is an incredible honor for our program,” said Washington Technology Senior High School Girls’ Coach Aaron Crawford. “Washington has a proud tradition of soccer, and getting the chance to represent our school on a stage that celebrates the very best of Saint Paul soccer is something our players will remember for the rest of their lives."
The mid-October doubleheader kicks off at 5:30 pm with the Eagles and Governors boys teams playing under the setting sun. Immediately after the girls teams will meet under the lights to cap off a massive night of high school soccer for these two teams.
“Here at Johnson Senior, we are extremely excited for the opportunity to represent our community at such a great event. We have passed along to our student athletes, band members and all that will be involved in how fortunate we are to have an organization that prioritizes this great experience for our young people,” said Johnson Senior High School Boys’ Coach Tony Scheuerman.
