League Two co-Golden Boot winner Nathan Donovan of Minneapolis City has been awarded the league's overall Player of the Year award. Donovan racked up 16 regular-season goals for the perfect Crows, in a process setting a new single-season record for the club. He and teammate Hakeem Morgan were also named to the Team of the Year.
Out of Hazel Green, WI, Nathan Donovan is both a seasoned USL League Two player (with St Croix Legends in 2023 and 2024 and, this year, in Minneapolis colors) and a renewed player following a serious knee injury that ended his college career with the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire Blugolds.
He was the United Soccer Coaches Player of the Year at the D3 level with 26 goals and 15 assists in 2024, and then came the knee injury.
Speaking to the league he said, “This season and award mean a great deal to me because this represents the type of player I strive to be,” said Donovan. “Coming into the season, I hadn’t played a competitive game in 18 months due to a torn ACL, but I found my love for the game again with Minneapolis City. I cherished every opportunity to play and celebrated every goal like it could be the last one I ever scored. I’m incredibly grateful for my coaches, teammates, and everyone in my corner who supported me throughout the season.”
