Dang, he’s good! Twosies sign Virginia standout Nick Dang

With less than 30 days to go before opening up their season MNUFC2 is filling out their roster for the 2026. The Twoons have made multiple acquisitions recently, signing midfielders Jakob Friedman (Monmouth) and Sam Vigilante (Princeton) in recent days. Now they’ve made another splash bringing in University of Virginia standout defender Nick Dang following his senior season with the Cavaliers.
“Nick’s physicality and a strong understanding of the game will help bolster our defense,” said new MNUFC2 Head Coach Fanendo Adi. “I’m looking forward to seeing him continue to build his knowledge of the sport while strengthening his ability on the back line.”
Dang spent his first three collegiate seasons with the Lipscomb Bisons where he was redshirted his first year, then made 35 appearances for the Bisons over the next two seasons. He then transferred to the University of Virginia and finished his collegiate career with 69 total appearances, starting all but one of those games. While a stout defender, he also notched 10 goals during the middle three seasons of his collegiate career, including a high of six in his 2024.
The 22 year old was taken in the second round at 49th overall by Real Salt Lake in the 2025 MLS SuperDraft that took place in December of 2024. His first team rights still belong to Real Salt Lake as he is on their SuperDraft Priority List through the end 2026, as clubs maintain rights to players for roughly two years following the draft. This means if the Loons were to sign him to a first team contract they would need to purchase his rights from RSL.
MNUFC2 opens their season on 1 March against Austin FC II as part of a six match road swing to start the season.
