Just days after being knocked out of the playoffs by San Diego FC, the 2025 end of season roster update has been announced by Minnesota United. Three players will be leaving the club, three more are in negotiations for 2026 and beyond, and the club exercised contract options on an additional five players. 21 other players have guaranteed contracts for the 2026 season including but not limited to; Michael Boxall, Jefferson Diaz, Nicolás Romero, Wil Trapp, along with 2026 summer window signees Dominik Fitz, Nectarios Triantis, and Mamadou Dieng. Anthony Markanich re-signed with the club through 2028 in September.

Departing Minnesota

  • Hassani Dotson (out of contract)
  • Kipp Keller (option declined)
  • Samuel Shashoua (option declined)

The biggest departure the club sees is Hassani Doston, who leaves MNUFC after seven seasons in the black and blue. The Seattle native was drafted by the Loons out of Oregon State and summer club Lane United, in the 2019 MLS SuperDraft. Dotson, who has struggled with injuries since the 2020 season has turned into one of the Loons best and most consistent players. He departs along with Kipp Keller, who was loaned to USL Championship side New Mexico United, and Samuel Shashoua who was loaned to fellow USLC side Birmingham Legion. MLS free agency for the 2026 season opens on 10 December 2025 while the re-entry draft process begins the following day.

In Negotiations

  • Dayne St. Clair (out of contract)
  • Robin Lod (option declined)
  • Loïc Mesanvi (option declined)

With starting goalkeeper Dayne St. Clair out of contract after this season, the club is negotiating with DSC for a new agreement that would likely keep him here well after the calendar switch. The Canadian international has joined the Loons after being taken seventh in the 2019 MLS SuperDraft. While playing at the University of Maryland, DSC also played at the senior level for L1O side Vaughan Azzurri and PDL (now USL League Two) clubs K-W United and New York Red Bulls U23.

Along with Dayne, another longtime Loon in Robin Lod is in contract negotiations for a longer contract, after having his single year option for 2026 declined by the club. The Finnish standout also joined MNUFC in 2019, signing from Spanish side Sporting de Gijón. Former Minneapolis City SC standout and Lakeville HS alum Loïc Mesanvi is also in negotiations for a contract extension with the Loons. Mesanvi has made just nine appearances with the first team to this point, but has made 61 with MNUFC2 and looks to be a key piece in Minnesota’s future.
