After a triple shot of competitive matches last week, Minnesota United continues a highly compressed part of their 2025 season with a midweek matchup against LAFC. Through 22 league matches, MNUFC has been having one of their best seasons in club history, with an 11-4-7 (40 points) record sitting at 2nd place in the West. Minnesota also recently advanced to the Lamar Hunt US Open Cup Semi-Finals with a 3-1 win over Chicago Fire last week.

“It is [facing LAFC] going to be a nice benchmark for us and an opportunity for us to put our hands up and say that we’re real contenders and to go and back up what was a really good performance against San Jose,” said manager Eric Ramsay.

Entering Wednesday’s match the Loons are 4-0-1 (W-L-D) in their last five across all competitions and have outscored opponents 14-6 in those five. Anthony Markanich has been a surprising note on the attack recently with three goals and Kelvin Yeboah has been in strong form with four goals in Minnesota’s last five matches. While the defence has been solid only allowing more than one goal twice since the beginning of June, but their last clean sheet on 28-May at Vancouver.

Los Angeles FC have had an up and down season to this point in the campaign. After a hot start followed by a rocky stretch that was immediately followed by a near two month unbeaten run, LAFC  sits at 6th place in West with a 9-5-5 (32 points) record. In their last five, the Black and Gold are 2-1-2 in their last five matches across all competitions, which includes two losses in the Club World Cup. Winger Denis Bouanga has led the team offensively this year with 10 goals and 5 assists, topping the charts for both stats. Defensively Los Angeles has been just as solid as Minnesota with 7 clean sheets in 19 MLS games and having shut out both of their last two opponents.
