Minnesota United headed to Colorado for a Wednesday night clash with the Colorado Rapids. Both teams desperately needed a win to break a winless skid. Minnesota's at seven before the match and Colorado's at four, as well as improve their playoff chances. Following a back and forth trading of goals, both sides left Commerce City equally disappointed with a single point to show for their effort.

With a tough draw in their rearview mirror, Minnesota United retained most of the eleven that faced Houston over the weekend. Manager Cameron Knowles made just a pair of changes with Marcus Caldeira and Jefferson Díaz getting starts on Wednesday night.

Large portions of the first half were played through the midfield third, with the two teams exchanging possession. Minnesota ended the first half with 36% possession and giving up nine shots to the Rapids. While the numbers are high only two of the shots went on target and both teams combined for less than one expected goal.

Right as stoppage time started Colorado changed the picture of the match completely. Keegan Rosenberry whipped a cross into the box and Darren Yapi smacked it in off the volley to put the Rapids up right before the break.

Even though Colorado scored before the half, Minnesota started the second half off on the front foot. It didn't take long for Minnesota to find the net and tie the match. Six minutes into the second half Kelvin Yeboah intercepted a Colorado pass and broke out on his own and slotted home the Loons first goal.

In the 68th minute the Loons had some luck come their way with Colorado being shown a red card. Following VAR review, the Rapids Sayed Abu Farkhi was shown a straight red for "violent conduct, hands to the face" after swiping at the face of Michael Boxall.

Colorado didn't let them impact them as while the Loons got the first chance after the red, the Rapids scored the first goal after the card. Georgi Minoungou hopped onto a ball played into the box and sent it in the back of the goal.

With under ten minutes to play, Cameron Knowles made a triple sub to bring out some offensive firepower. That set of changes worked wonders and in the 83rd minute the Loons tied the match in the oddest of circumstances.

Kelvin Yeboah attempted to cross the ball into the box, but Colorado's Loïc Williams caught the ball inside the six. An errant touch and a slip from Williams ended up sending the ball into the Rapids own goal.

MNUFC was unable to add a goal in the final five minutes plus seven minutes of time. The Loons draw extended their winless skid to eight on the bounce heading into this weekend. Now Minnesota United will shift focus to their next match, which happens this weekend in just a few days. Saturday afternoon the Loons host St. Louis City SC at Allianz Field with a 3:30pm kickoff. Minnesota has won six of eight matches all time against St. Louis
