Sunny and abnormally warm for October were the conditions the Golden Gophers hosted the #6 Ohio State Buckeyes in. Ohio State managed just a single goal in the first half and that came off a penalty just 12 minutes in.

Minnesota and Ohio State entered Sunday afternoon's match on differing trajectories. The Gophers came in off a 4–0 loss to Michigan State while the Buckeyes beat Wisconsin 3–2 in their last outing. Erin Chastain made one change to the eleven her side started against Michigan State. Keegan Schmeiser jumped in replacing Selah Koleth. While no changes came from the Buckeyes head coach Lori Walker-Hock.
