After a pair of matches to open the season with week one, the Gophers had quite a slower week with only one match in their second week of the season. Minnesota got off to a hot start, opening the season with a 4–0 win over North Dakota and a 1–1 draw with #19 Georgia. The Maroon and Gold's first away match of the season was a quick trip up to Fargo, ND to meet the Bison at Dacotah Field in only the second meeting in Fargo between the two teams.

NDSU Bison 1 – 2 Minnesota Gophers

Up in Fargo last week Minnesota dominated the match from start to finish, even if they didn't score first. NDSU's Morgan Russmann put the Bison up in the 65th minute on what would be the Bison's only shot on target. Minnesota's constant offensive pressure finally paid off a minute later with a goal from Ava Westlund. She completed the Gophers comeback win and snagged a brace with a 73rd minute match winning goal.
